Short Answer Essay Guidelines
1. Essay must be typed on a separate page.
2. Essay must be in your own words. Your essay may not be copied from someone
else’s work.
3. Essay must use correct grammar and spelling. Any of these errors will result in
fewer points awarded.
Short Answer Essay Requirements
1. Describe your academic and career goals, your plans to achieve them and discuss
any of your extracurricular/volunteer activities (both on and off campus) that you
may perform.
2. Describe why your academic, civic, or volunteer involvement qualifies you for a
scholarship. It is not a biography of your circumstances.
3. Describe a major obstacle you have had to overcome while in College (or while in
high school if you are enrolling freshman courses). Briefly explain how a
scholarship will assist you in avoiding, or solving potential hardships that might
threaten meeting your graduation goals.
