Graduate School of Management
Core/Elective Core Waiver
Students are eligible to be waived from a core course if all of the following are met:
a) student requests a waiver in writing or via this form
b) have an undergraduate or graduate major, from an accredited school, in the academic area requesting to be waived
(the degree must be within the last 10 years), and
c) professional experience in the area (please attach a current resume).
To fulfill the waiver, the student must take an elective or elective core course in the area of the waiver (i.e., if a student is waived
from the core course - MARK 6100 Marketing Management, the student must take an elective core or elective requirement in
the area of Marketing, such as MARK 6170 Marketing Ethics and Social Responsibility). Students cannot take a 6100 course to
fulfill the core waiver.
A student that takes the elective or elective core course within the program requirements, does not need to replace the 3 credits
from the waived course. The waiver reduces the total number of credits required to complete the MBA program. If a student
has taken all of their elective core and elective requirements in other areas, the student will be required to take an additional
elective to fulfill the waiver, (i.e. forfeit the waived credits).
A maximum of 2 courses (6 credits) may be waived within the MBA program based on undergraduate/graduate majors.
Please contact the GSM office for questions, concerns or advising issues regarding this policy.
