According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers’
Job Outlook 2013 survey, 78% of employers say they screen for grade
point average (GPA). Most of the employers who have a GPA “cutoff”
report that they won’t consider applicants with less than a 3.000
of cers will also consider GPA.
To be in academic good standing with the University, you are
expected to maintain a GPA of at least 2.000; some majors require a
higher GPA. Consult the BSU Catalog online (www.bsu.edu/catalog)
for the GPA requirement for your major.
Calculating GPA
BALL STATE UNIVERSITY
The GPA is used to evaulate your academic record. Quality points are allocated to grades earned as follows:
A 4.000 B+ 3.333 C+ 2.333 D+ 1.333 F 0.000
A- 3.667 B 3.000 C 2.000 D 1.000
B- 2.667 C- 1.667 D- 0.667
To calcuate the GPA, divide the total number of credit points by the total number of credits attempted. For example:
Course Grade Quality Points Credits Attempted Credit Points
ENG 103 B+ 3.333 X 3 = 9.999
MATH 125 B 3.000 X 3 = 9.000
HIST 150 C+ 2.333 X 3 = 6.999
COMM 210 A- 3.667 X 3 = 11.001
ASTR 100 A 4.000 X 3 = 12.000
15 48.999
Total Credit Points (48.999) divided by Total Credits Attempted (15) = 3.2666 GPA
