Brief Description of Profession, Including Career Opportunities and Work Environments:
The Associate Degree Nursing curriculum provides knowledge, skills, and strategies to integrate safety and quality in to
nursing care, to practice in a dynamic environment, and to meet individual needs, which impact health, quality of life,
and achievement of potential. Employment opportunities are vast within the global health care system and may include
positions within acute, chronic, extended, industrial, and community health care facilities.
Essential Functions:
The mission of the Nursing Department at GTCC is to prepare
graduates for entry-level posions in nursing. All students will
be expected to perform assigned skills and class assignments at
the same level, with or without accommodaons. It is the
responsibility of the applicant to read the essenal funcons
carefully and ask for claricaon of any funcon that is not
understood.
To be successful in the nursing programs, students will need to
demonstrate skills in the following areas:

The approximate in-state total cost for the 5-semester
ADN program is $7,800.

Tuion rates are established by State Board of Community
College in accordance to acons taken by NC General Assembly.
Student fees are established by GTCC Board of Trustees in
accordance to the State Board of Community Colleges. All rates
are subject to change.
Credentialing/Licensing Requirements:
Graduates are eligible to apply to take the Naonal Council
Licensure Examinaon (NCLEX-RN). Graduates must be licensed
in order to pracce as a registered nurse.

Upon compleon of the Associate Degree Nursing Program, the
graduate will upon licensure:
Integrate knowledge of the holisc needs of the individual to provide an
individual centered assessment.
Pracce professional nursing behaviors incorporang personal
responsibility and accountability for connued competence.
Communicate professionally and eecvely with individuals, signicant
support person(s), and members of the interdisciplinary healthcare
team.
Develop a teaching plan for individuals, and/or the nursing team,
incorporang teaching and learning principles.
Manage health care for the individual using cost eecve nursing
strategies, quality improvement processes, and current technologies.
Incorporate informacs to formulate evidence-based clinical judgments
and management decisions.
Implement caring intervenons incorporang documented best
pracces for individuals in diverse sengs.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to advocate for
posive individual and organizaonal outcome
