Notification
of
2013·2014 Rateable Value
As a result
of
the General Revaluation, the rateable value of the above tenement is
as
shown. The rateable value will take effect from 1 April 2013.
This is not
an
advice for payment. You will not receive rates demand notes whilst
exemption continues.
If the tenement is no longer entitled to exemption, rates demand note
will
be issued to you with retrospective effect from the date of cancellation
of
exemption.
However, the tenement is subject to payment of Government rent
payable under the
Government Rent (Assessment and Collection) Ordinance. The rent is
calculated at
3%
of
the rateable
value for Government rent purposes and is adjusted
in
step with any
subsequent changes
in
the rateable value.
The rateable value for Government rent purposes is shown above. If you are not satisfied
with the assessment,
you
must lodge a proposal
in
the specified form (Form R20Ale-R20A)
to alter the rateable value
not
later
than
31
May 2013. The
Commissioner
does
not
have
the
discretion
to
accept late proposals.
If
the rateable value is the same for rates and Government rent, the proposal must be
made in respect to the Valuation List. Any alteration
in
the rateable value will apply to the
calculation
of
both rates and Government rent. However,
if
the rateable value for rates and
Government rent is different, a separate proposal must
be made in respect to both the
Valuation List and the Government Rent Roll.

note:
According
to
our records, the above tenement is currently exempt by the Director
of
Home
Affairs from payment
of rates
on
the ground that it is a residence
of
an
indigenous villager
in
the New Territories. If you are the new owner or the new occupier
of
the subject
tenement, but you have not obtained any rates exemption approval from the Director,
please notify this department
in
writing the tenement's current ownership and occupation
details.
You
