Assist in the construction and painting of scenery for the Theater Department. Assist in hang and focus of
lighting for theater productions and events. Assist in cleaning, maintenance and organization of the scene shop
and other department facilities. Work load-in and strike of department productions. Work may include leading
student crews.
Should possess basic woodworking skills and some knowledge of portable and stationary power tools. Should
be able to interpret and work from shop drawings. Previous theatrical building and familiarity with theatrical
lights a plus. Imagination, creativity, and elbow grease a necessity. Technical theatre often requires moving
semi-heavy objects, tools, and ladders, and carrying scenic elements or lighting instruments up to a height.
Applicants should be able to climb a ladder and lift a minimum of 30 pounds.
Applicant will be expected to work between 12-20 hrs a week. Exact schedule to be arranged with supervisor
based on student class conflicts and shop hours.
In addition, applicant will be expected to work some limited evening and weekend hours during load-in and
strike of theater department productions and events.
