The Cor
onavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act has provided institutions with grant funding intended
to provide students emergency grants for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus.
Stud
ents seeking this grant funding must meet all eligibility requirements and submit this request form. CARES Act
Grant Requests will be reviewed in the order received. These funds are limited, and submission of the form does not
guarantee funding availability.
Eligibility
In order
to be eligible to apply for and receive the CARES Act Grant, the student must:
Have completed a 2019-2020 FAFSA, submitted all required financial aid documents, be enrolled in an eligible
program of study, be meeting SAP standards, and be otherwise eligible to receive Title IV financial aid.
Currently be enrolled in at least one Winter 2020 15-week, 12-week, or 2
nd
8-week class that was converted
from an on-ground format to an online format.
Dual enrollment students and students who were only enrolled in online classes as of March 13, 2020 are not
eligible for this funding.
Have incurred expenses directly related to the change in campus operations due to coronavirus. Note: While
many hardships and expenses may have been incurred as a direct result of the coronavirus, only expenses
related to the closure of the HFC campus and the change from on-ground to online classes will be considered.
Funds cannot be used for tuition assistance.
General Information
All
applications will be reviewed to confirm the student meets all eligibility requirements.
Applicants will be notified via Hawkmail.
All CARES Act Grants will be paid out via BankMobile. Students may set up a refund preference by visiting

Once completed, the CARES Act Grant Request must be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid. Current
financial aid students that prefer to upload the completed document via Self Service should contact the Office
of Financial Aid via email at CARES@HFCC.EDU
or phone at (313) 845-9616 to request “document upload”
for this form.
