Intent of Amber Flashing Lamp
The overall intent of supplementary or additional flashing amber lamp devices on a vehicle, outside of existing
regulatory allowances, is to identify a stationary vehicle that may be a hazard to other road users or
pedestrians. This intent is limited to vehicles that must be positioned or parked on highway
for legitimate
purposes with no viable option of locating the vehicle off-highway.
There is NO INTENT EXPRESSED or IMPLIED that activation of a flashing amber lamp device provides a measure
of safety for workers or persons in proximity to the stationary vehicle.
Any Vehicles equipped with flashing amber lights must meet the criteria of an “official vehicle” as defined in
the BC Motor Vehicle Act Regulations Division 47.01.
