Team Agreement
for Returning
FIRST
®
LEGO
® League Challenge Teams
Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri Inc. (Girl Scouts) is pleased to offer the opportunity for girls to
participate in the FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge program during the 20202021 season. The Coach,
as named in this Agreement, acting on behalf of the Team, agrees to the following. Please initial each
applicable item on the next page, provide the contact information requested and return original copy to
Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri.
Team Commitments:
We understand that we are an official Girl Scout Troop and are aware of Girl Scout Troop
requirements, such as participating in the Cookie Program or Fall Product.
We understand that we are required to attend a competition, either an Expo or Qualifier,
and that failure to do so will result in a $100 fine.
We understand that if we do not continue with the program it is our responsibility to
return the equipment to Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri.
We understand the main season of the FLL Challenge program runs August through January 2021.
We understand that the season may be extended through the World Championships in April 2021,
should our team advance to that level.
We agree Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri will provide team t-shirts with appropriate sponsor
logos for up to ten girls
Two coaches and to sign up for the new coach training that will be offered in August at the Girl
Scouts of Eastern Missouri Service Center.
We agree to provide a secure location for team equipment to be stored until it is returned to Girl
Scouts.
We agree to keep equipment clean and in good condition for the duration of the program and to
use it only in the manner in which it is intended for this program. Robot kit pieces must be
organized separately and returned to Girl Scouts in an organized fashion.
We understand that the full cost of participation for our Robotics Team is $495. This price includes
registration fees, equipment and other team materials. Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri, with generous
support, is covering 60% of the team’s expenses ($297). For returning Girl Scout teams, Girl Scouts of
Eastern Missouri is also providing a program credit of $100 as an additional investment in girls and teams
choosing to stay committed to the program.

We agree to pay 40% of the cost ($198 for a returning team/$98 for a returning team made up of
returning Girl Scouts) by August 3rd, 2020 for our team to participate. Our team can participate in
approved money earning activities, such as the Girl Scout Cookie Program, to help raise funds for the
team. Activity scholarships are available if there is a need. Please see attached form.
We agree to participate in at least two outreach activities that will reach an additional 50 girls
(examples include school presentations or neighborhood demonstration), in order to share my
team’s accomplishments and the benefits of participating in robotics.
We agree to maintain at least three girls on our team.
We understand that our team is required to participate in one FLL Challenge Regional Qualifying
Tournament in November 2020, regardless of how far the team has progressed.
We understand our team will be asked to volunteer at promotional events Girl Scouts hosts, and
we are willing to help out as much as we can.
We agree to clearly identify ourselves as Girl Scouts in any recruitment event, media event, or
competition and to abide by Girl Scout troop trip guidelines if traveling outside the Council
boundaries.
We agree to be available for a site visit from Girl Scouts or GSUSA staff during the grant period,
which goes through April 30, 2021.
Adult Commitments:
We agree to provide at least one adult volunteer to help at one FIRST event (Expo or Qualifier).
We agree to provide the following girl / adult ratio for each team:
Two adults to every 12 girls in grades K-1, plus one additional adult for every six girls.
Two adults to every 20 girls in grades 2-3, plus one additional adult for every eight girls.
Two adults to every 25 girls in grades 4-5, plus one additional adult to each additional 10 girls.
Two adults to every 25 girls in grades 6-8, plus one additional adult to each additional 12 girls.
We agree that during team meetings, at least one of the adults present is an adult female who is
not related to the other adult.
We agree to have any adult working with the team complete the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri
volunteer application process, which includes authorization for a background screening to be
conducted through Girl Scouts and its acting agencies.
We agree to provide all paperwork by stated deadlines, including, but not limited to surveys,
amount of time spent on project, photo releases and photos.
We agree to notify the Robotics Program Manager in a timely manner if significant delays or
setbacks occur.

We agree to submit digital photos of girls and adults engaged in the program activities by
February 28, 2021.
We agree to work with Girl Scout’s Communications Department on any team publicity.

By signing below, you and your team agree to the following terms:
Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri Robotics Program Manager will provide team support to the
extent possible
Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri will allow the team to check out a laptop for the duration of the
FLL Challenge season (if one is available)
Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri will provide button supplies and the option for teams to check out
the program button maker
Team will use the funds in an appropriate manner and for robotics expenses only
Team will maintain at least three girls
Team will submit all photo release forms, team partnership agreements and completed surveys
in a timely manner to the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri Robotics Program Manager
Team will participate in a qualifying tournament in November
Team will expose other youth, particularly girls, to robotics through events and other avenues of
their choosing
Team will provide documentation of activities in support of grant requirements (completion of
surveys, amount of time spent on project, photos, etc.)
If teams travel to tournaments outside of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri boundaries, they will
follow Troop Trip Procedures.

Through community support, GSEM is able to support a limited number of teams for the robotics
season. Team support will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and Girl Scouts of
Eastern Missouri will notify your team in July if they are funded.
