English Language Proficiency Waiver Request Form
If you believe you qualify for a waiver, please answer the questions below. Your request will be reviewed on a
rolling basis once your application and transcripts have been submitted. All international applicants are required to
submit either an English proficiency exam score or submit a waiver request by the application deadline. Waiver
requests will be evaluated for approval within one week of submission.

I qualify for an English Proficiency Waiver because (check all that apply):
English is my first language. Please provide copy of passport. May need to submit to a phone
interview with an Admission Officer.
I submitted a score to TCC of 650 or higher on the SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing
or Critical Reasoning exam. Please provide scores.
I submitted a score to TCC of 29 or higher on the ACT English exam. Please provide scores.
As a first-year applicant, I will have completed my most recent two or more years of
secondary education at an institution where English is the primary language of instruction by the
time I enroll at TCC. Please provide transcripts of secondary education or evaluation verifying
that courses and curriculum were conducted in English.
As a transfer applicant, I have completed two consecutive English Language Composition
courses at the college level at the time of application. Please provide transcripts of courses of
college study.
I studied full time in one of the countries listed on the English-Speaking Countries Exemption
list. Please provide copy of passport or transcripts of full-time study.
I completed the 6

level of intensive English studies at CIES, all in-person courses with a
passing score of B and am recommended for academic study. Please provide copy of certificate
and a letter of recommendation from CIES to accompany this request to waive the TCC’s English
Language requirement.
I have earned a master's degree or higher in the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland,
Australia, New Zealand, or Anglophone Canada. Please provide transcripts of completion of
master degree program.
Tallahassee Community College reserves the right to require evidence of English language proficiency
for all applicants, the adequacy of which shall be at the sole discretion of Tallahassee Community
College.
