Engineering and Computer Science Scholarships

Cochise College will award eight $4,000 merit and need based scholarships to high school graduating students who have
or to current Cochise students pursuing an Engineering or Computer Science degree at Cochise College. To qualify,
applicants must enroll in 12 or more credits at Cochise College for the Fall 2020 semester; all students must have and
maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA in college-level courses. (High school seniors who apply for the Cochise Senior
Scholarship are eligible for both scholarships)
Complete this application form
Register for Cochise College classes on or before August 1 for the Fall 2020 semester
Compose a five page “Interest Paper” describing your personal career interests (Paper can be used for ASU
transfer scholarships) Note: this is $800/page see specifics below
High school students submit unofficial high school transcripts with your application (until official transcripts
become available). College students submit unofficial transcripts if not previously submitted.
Attend a Cochise College sponsored trip to ASU for discussion of transfer opportunities-(see Disclaimer)

ELIGIBILITY, WHAT YOU WILL NEED, CRITERIA
ELIGIBILITY
GPA must be at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and enrolled full time as an Engineering or Computer Science major.
Applicants who attended Cochise College classes must demonstrate a cumulative 3.0 GPA in college-level
courses.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Unofficial transcripts until official copies from your current high school or college become available
Interest Paper: Take control of your career and start looking at where you are interested in working and what you
would like to do. This five page double-spaced, typed document will be a guide for your future, and your plan for
achieving career academic goals.
o Page 1 Introduction describing problems you are interested in solving, type(s) of Engineering or Computer
Science, and what you want to pursue as a career choice
o Page 2 - Describe employers you are interested in working for and why you like these particular
companies (stable company, good products, innovative projects and products, location, salary schedules,
job opportunities, etc.)
o Page 3 Your preparation to date on coursework you have taken and personal experiences. Include
working in garages, leadership, project experiences, community service, computer skills, jobs paid and
unpaid, etc.
o Page 4 Letter of academic recommendation written by your teacher, counselor, employer, or someone
(other than family) familiar with your qualifications. It is preferred that letters be submitted on letterhead
and must be signed and include contact information.
o Page 5 References crediting sources where you found your information (magazine, internet, YouTube,
URLs, newspapers, interviews, etc.)

Applicants will be scored by a committee based on the following categories.

Merit
Financial need and low income
