Eleanor Starkey Scholarship Fund

HISTORY
The Eleanor Starkey Scholarship will be given annually by a trust created under
the Last Will and Testament of Eleanor Starkey who died on December 11, 1978.
Mrs. Starkey’s intentions were to pay “scholarships for education in music beyond
the high school level for graduates of the Cowanesque Valley High School or such
high school as may take its place in the future.”
SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
The scholarship award will be an amount determined each year by the
Scholarship Committee. For the grant to be renewed each year you must
maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average. If your cumulative
grade point average falls below 2.5, the scholarship will be withdrawn.
APPLICANTS MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
1. Be a Cowanesque Valley high school senior accepted in an accredited
college or university program meeting the criteria of the following in
descending order of priority.
(1) majoring in music in college
(2) majoring in education, who participated in band or chorus for four years
at Cowanesque Valley High School
(3) majoring in education, who participated in drill flags for four years at
Cowanesque Valley High School
(4) majoring in education, who participated in the school musical for four
years at Cowanesque Valley High School
(5) majoring in education, who participated in any of the above stated music
activities for less than four years at Cowanesque Valley High School
(6) majoring in education in college.
2. Demonstrate academic performance by S.A.T’s, class rank,
recommendations, and strength of student’s high school program.
