Professionalism Award
Criteria for Award:
A. The recipient publicly and consistently demonstrates integrity, honesty, and willing compliance
with the letter and spirit of the law, with the rules of court, with the highest ethical standards,
and with the professional standards stated in the OSB Statement of Professionalism.
B. The recipient promotes the efficient resolution of disputes and completion of transactions, and
regardless of the intensity of a matter or case consistently treats all others with courtesy and
dignity while effectively and fairly serving the best interests of his or her clients.
C. The recipient fosters the respect and trust of other lawyers, clients, members of the
community, and the judicial system.
D. The recipient encourages professional conduct on the part of other lawyers.
E. The recipient demonstrates the importance of pro bono service to the bar and the community
by making it an integral part of his or her professional life in the bar.
F. The recipient must be an active member of the Oregon State Bar.
G. The award is intended to provide an incentive to all members of the bar to achieve the highest
levels of professionalism. Therefore, consideration will be given to all lawyers, regardless of
their years of practice, including those in public or government practice, legal services lawyers,
solo and small firm practitioners, those who are not engaged in a litigation practice, and to
members of diverse groups within the profession.
