DQE Workshop/Exam
Departmental Qualication Exam
(web-enhanced)
Two Sessions —Spring 2016
T
he Departmental Qualication Exam (DQE) is a language assessment tool used by the Department of
Mass Communication and Journalism. It covers areas such as spelling, punctuation, plurals and posses-
sives, confusing words, agreement, and pronoun case.
The DQE can provide a useful evaluation of anyone’s language skills. However, successful completion is
required of students before they can enroll in MCJ Department skills courses. A three-hour workshop
reviewing DQE topics is oered on the rst weekend. The exam is administered on the second weekend.
A photo ID is required.
Note: Passing the DQE is a prerequisite for seven MCJ skills courses, including MCJ 10 & MCJ 102W.
