The requirement for next semester is that you must pick a play that is either original, has a
high-concept, or isn’t done very often.
The interviews will last approximately fifteen minutes (10 min presentation, 5 min question) per
director and the selection will be posted shortly thereafter.

PLEASE WRITE IT ON THE BACK OF THE FIRST PAGE OF THE FORM*
Please note that the interview is a very important part of the selection process. DO NOT take it
lightly and BE PREPARED.
Please consider the following questions prior to your interview. They will most likely be
asked of you during the interview by the board members. Additional questions may be asked,
feel free to use notes or other presentation materials during the interview.
• Why do you want to direct? Why this play? What about it interests you?
• How would you like this play to affect your audience?
• Would this play be a good project for ETC? Why?
• Is this play castable from within the theatre department, in terms of the number of actors,
number of males and females, type, and age?
• Although a visual concept will be developed between you and the designers, could this
play be produced with minimal costumes, scenery, lights, and sound? How would you
present the concept?
• Are there any unusual requirements, technical and otherwise?
• Is there anything else you would like to add or the board to consider?
