BUILDING FLOOR EVACUATION COORDINATORS (FEC)
This information will be provided by the Emergency Preparedness Manager.
EVACUATION PLAN & EMERGENCY PROCEDURES: BUILDING FIRE ALARM ACTIVATION
If a building fire alarm is sounding, these procedures should be followed (including but not limited to the
following scenarios): fire, gas leak, flood, or any situation warranting an evacuation of the building.
Building Floor Evacuation Coordinators (FECs) will:
- Put on emergency vests.
- Loudly state “evacuation” or “evacuate the building” and direct occupants to exits, as appropriate.
- Notify occupants as needed, open door and announce “building evacuation.”
- Occupants within each suite should notify other coworkers after being notified by FEC.
- As needed, call into restrooms, stating, “Evacuate the building.”
- Using walkie-talkies, FECs with radios will communicate to building primary FEC that their area is clear,
to the best of their knowledge.
- Building Primary FEC will notify first responders of any persons remaining in the building, and provide
any information related to the building evacuation received from other coordinators or from building
occupants.
- Once out of the building, FECs will be positioned to monitor all exits to prevent anyone from entering,
and will direct occupants to the emergency assembly point.
