Dear Parents,
I am pleased to inform you that
has launched a new iniave to provide social-emoonal learning skills and character
educaon to our students. By securing funding from The NFL, Verizon and the local
United Way, we are able to bring the Character Playbook resource to our community,
and provide students with access to a cung-edge curriculum at no cost to the school
and no cost to taxpayers.
The Character Playbook resource is a 6-module, 2.5-hour program to build character and
develop social emoonal learning skills that will be integrated into
curriculum. Aer analyzing the influences in their own lives in the first module, students
will work through scenario based lessons that give them the tools to beer understand
and manage emoons, communicate effecvely, resolve conflicts, step in, and make
decisions. The goal is to help students culvate good character and develop healthy
relaonships with both their peers and the adults around them.
The plaorm tracks individual student progress and knowledge gain, and provides
students who successfully complete the course with cerficaon in financial literacy.
It should also be noted that EVERFI, Inc. maintains a boundary in which course
curriculum is guided by state/provincial standards – not by the sponsor underwring the
program.
The modern classroom requires a blend of both innovave technology and
private-sector resources that, together, create an environment that will engage,
excite, and prepare. We look forward to connuing these wonderful public-private
partnerships and seeing students benefit from Character Playbook.
