Cross-Registration and Off-Campus Study Approval Form
Matriculated students at SUNY Plattsburgh must obtain campus approval prior to taking courses hosted at another institution in order to evaluate transferability
and applicability to degree requirements. SUNY Plattsburgh tuition may be applied to courses which are essential for on-time graduation and are taken at another
SUNY institution. Alternatively, students may choose to take courses at other institutions that are not essential for on-time graduation, but they will be responsible
to pay directly for all applicable tuition and fees. For more information on Cross-Registration and Off-Campus Study, including important information regarding
transfer credits, grades and financial aid, please visit

Important Information
Be aware that if you take a course at another institution that is not eligible for Cross-Registration the following will apply:
A minimum grade of D is required for transfer, unless a grade higher than D is required in that course. Transfer
grades do not count toward your Plattsburgh GPA.
You will not receive duplicate credit if the course is a repeat of courses completed at Plattsburgh or previously
transferred from another institution.
You must earn 30 of your last 36 credits required for your degree at Plattsburgh to meet the senior residency
requirement (RN-to-BS nursing majors, students in a SUNY-approved study abroad program, and students
required to complete their final coursework off-campus are exempt from this requirement).
Undergraduate students are allowed a maximum of 67 credits to transfer from a two-year college and a maximum
of 84 credits to transfer from a four-year college.
Graduate students may transfer a maximum of 12 credits from another institution.
It is your responsibility to request an official transcript to be forwarded to Plattsburgh’s Registrar’s Office within
one semester of completing the course.
You may only receive federal and state aid for courses that are required for your degree. If you enroll in courses
that are not required for your degree, you may lose all or a portion of your financial aid. You must discuss or plan
to discuss the impact of this off campus-study on your eligibility for financial aid with the Financial Aid Office.
Only courses taken and repeated at SUNY Plattsburgh will count towards your GPA. You may repeat a course
off-campus to satisfy a requirement without affecting your existing GPA.
You will need to complete forty-five (45) upper-division (300 or 400 level) credits for graduation.
