Confidentiality Statement
For GED Candidates
1. I understand that security of the GED Test allows people to test fairly and ensures the value of
equivalency credentials.
2. I understand that all material on the GED Test is confidential.
3. I understand that I will not receive a score on Test 1, Language Arts, Writing, unless I write on the
essay topic that is assigned. I understand that there is a penalty for writing on any subject except the
assigned topic and that the penalty is an imposed waiting period before I can retest on Test 1.
4. I understand that discussing any information about content of the GED Test, including the essay, may
result in disapproval of the issuance of my equivalency credential or the cancellation of a credential
issued to me, pursuant to the authority granted to the state administrator for GED by the Texas
Administrative Code, Section 89.118.
5. I understand that reproduction of any part of the GED Test without the express permission of the GED
Testing Service of the American Council on Education is a violation of copyright laws.
