Task: Following the steps listed in the procedure, coach patients appropriately regarding health
maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment plans considering cultural diversity,
developmental life stages and communication barriers
Supplies & Conditions: Paper, pen, computer (if EHR), information ordered by provider for coaching session.
Standards: A maximum of three attempts may be used to complete the task. The time limit for each attempt
is 10 minutes, with a minimum score of 70 percent. Scoring: Determine student’s score by
dividing points awarded by total points possible and multiplying results by 100.

the Student Companion website; procedure scenarios are found in the Instructor’s Manual.
