New and Existing Club Certification Checklist
CLUB CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Please make sure all three (3) sections are completed in order to be ASMC recognized. Failure to comply
each semester may result in your club being deactivated and all club funds frozen.
1. “ASMC Club Membership Form” MUST BE COMPLETED EACH SEMESTER
a. Minimum 4 club members with a current ASMC sticker
b. Student(s) may be members of more than one club
2. Have a registered Club Advisor. Advisor(s) can be a full- or part-time faculty, staff, or
administrator
3. Submit a Club Constitution and Bylaws. The ASMC Office can provide a sample.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR GETTING YOUR ITEMS ON THE COUNCIL AGENDA
In accordance with the Brown Act, we require the following in order to place your items on the agenda:
1. Submit your agenda items in one of the following ways:

ASMC President: asmcpres@mccd.edu
ASMC Advisor: raul.alcala@mccd.edu
Inform the student assistant in the ASMC office
Call the ASMC office and personally describe your item to the student assistant in the
ASMC office
2. The Council Agenda will be posted publicly no less than 3 business days prior to the meeting
Three (3) business days prior to the meeting is a Thursday and no later than 12:00 PM
3. “Action Items” must be on the agenda as official business when posted before it can be put to a
vote
4. Hearing of the Public, Reports, Future Items for Discussion or Action, and Announcements do
not need to be on the agenda prior to posting and can be addressed during the meeting
ALL ITEMS MUST BE SUBMITTED BEFORE 12:00 PM ON THE THURSDAY PRIOR TO THE MEETING
The Brown Act states that only emergency action items may be added after the agenda has been
officially posted. Emergency items are defined as something that would cause a work stoppage, if not
addressed immediately. With this in mind, be prepared to wait until the following meeting if you don’t
submit your item for the agenda by 12:00 pm on a Thursday prior to the Council Meeting.
