About
Paducah Power System and the City of Paducah would like to invite the artists living and working in Western Kentucky to
apply for the Art Utility Box program, "powerART"! As part of the City’s initiatives for beautification, community
development, and need for public art – we have partnered with Paducah Power System to create visual paintings that
connect and encourage the vibrancy and culture of Paducah by using Paducah Power’s utility boxes! The utility box art
program is designed to enhance and grow upon Paducah’s, character, and culture.
Goals Location of Utility Boxes
-Creates a sense of place and belonging Noble Park near lake Gerry B. Montgomery
-Encourages dialogue and engagement with its surrounding
General Guidelines
- The submitted artwork must resemble the art that will be painted on the box.
- Acrylic paint only - Spray painting is not permitted or artwork that requires any adhesive
- The meter, labels, stickers, levers, hinges, and keyholes on the box will not have any coating
over them
- The vents will not be covered as not to restrict airflow from the cabinet
- When washing or painting the box, it should be done in a manner so that no moisture gets
inside the box through any vents. There is sensitive electronic equipment inside the boxes
Eligibility
- Regional call for artists living and working in Western Kentucky
- 18 years or older, if under the age of 18 you must have a parent/guardian be present
- Individuals, groups, and organizations may apply
- You may submit up to three images
