City of Banning Public Benefits Program Guidelines
• Refrigerator/Freezer Recycling Incentives Residential
Program Description:
This program is designed to provide monetary incentives for the recycling of operating refrigerators
and/or stand-alone freezers that are old and inefficient. The refrigerators and stand-
alone freezers are picked up and transported to a recycling facility for processing.
• This program is available to the City of Banning residential electric customers.
• Customers will be reimbursed any fees paid to the recycler up to $90.00.
• Fee reimbursements will be credited to customer’s electric account.
• To qualify for the fee reimbursement, the operating refrigerator or freezer must be 12 to 28 cubic
feet in size.
• The limit is one appliance pickup, and one rebate per customer account per calendar year.
• The program is being offered to provide energy savings to participating electric customers,
as well as to the City of Banning Electric Utility.
• A Freon certified specialist, approved by the City of Banning, must do the removal.
• Following the removal of the Recycled Refrigerator/Freezer, complete and return the application
to: City of Banning, Public Benefits Department, 176 E. Lincoln Street, Banning, CA 92220 or
Email to PublicBenefits@banningca.gov.
• A copy of the dated invoice, or receipt, must be attached to the application.
• Reimbursement will be issued within 6 to 8 weeks after verification of submitted paperwork.
• $90.00 Reimbursement Fee Program will continue provided funds are available.
