City of Banning Public Benefits Program Guidelines
• Qualified ENERGY STAR Products Rebate
Program Description:
This program provides monetary incentives for the purchase of qualified new high efficiency Energy Star
rated products that use less electricity than standard units of comparable size. Energy Star is a voluntary
partnership between the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, product
manufacturers, local utilities, and retailers. Partners help promote efficient products by labeling them with
the Energy Star logo and educating consumers about the benefits of energy efficiency.

Program Guidelines:
• This program is available to the City of Banning residential electric customers.
• There is a cap of $500 per customer account per calendar year for items in Table -1
• Product must be ENERGY STAR rated.
• Following the purchase and installation of the new qualified ENERGY STAR rated product, complete and
return the application to: City of Banning, Public Benefits Department, 176 E. Lincoln Street,
Banning, CA 92220 or Email to PublicBenefits@banningca.gov
• A copy of the dated sales receipt containing product description, make and model of the purchase, and a
copy of the yellow EnergyGuide tag, must be attached to the application. If the yellow energy guide tag is
not available, sufficient documentation must be provided to prove Energy Star compliance.
• The application and supporting documentation must be submitted within 180 days of purchasing the
product in order to qualify for a rebate.
• Rebates will be given to all qualified applicants submitting proper paperwork.
• Rebates will be paid to the electric customer of record only. The name on the invoice must match the
name on the electric customer account.
• Rebates will be issued within 6 to 8 weeks after verification of submitted paperwork.
• Rebates of $500.00 or less will be applied to the customer’s electric account.
• Program will continue provided funds are available.
