Evidence of Financial Support
Please review the chart below to determine the type of verification required as evidence of financial support. Bank documents must be less
than 6 months old at the time of I-20 issuance.
Bank statements are not acceptable. Please request your bank to issue a letter stating the amount of available funds.

Personal funds or funds from an individual sponsor
Letter from the sponsor’s bank stating the account balance for
immediately available, liquid, cash funds (e.g. savings or checkings). No
stocks, bonds, CDs, time deposits, term deposits, pay stubs, salary
amounts, tax documents, mortgages, retirement or provident funds. The
letter must be on the bank’s official letterhead dated and signed by the
bank representative. No digital signatures.
Sponsorship provided by your government, your employer or
another organization
