SECTION I. TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. ELIGIBILITY
Rebates are available to non-residential customers of Austin Utilities, Owatonna Public Utilities, and Rochester Public Utilities (here-in referred to as The
Utility). All products must be in use in facilities in the Utility service territory. The applicant shall be an end-user (i.e., not a motor wholesaler, distributor, or
installer) of either commercial or industrial motors.
2. APPLICATION
Program is offered January 1 through December 31 of the respective calendar year. Due to limited funding, this rebate offer can be changed or
withdrawn at any time without notice and is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. All projects must be pre-approved by the Utility to qualify
for a rebate. The entire rebate application must be read and filled out completely or the application will be returned.
3. INSPECTION AND VERIFICATION
The Utility reserves the right to inspect the Customer's facility through on-site visitations before and after new equipment installation or inventory to verify
rebate eligibility. The Utility reminds you to follow all local permitting and building code ordinances.
4. INSTALLATION AND REBATE AMOUNTS
Qualifying energy-efficient motors must be new and installed and operational within six (6) months of the date of purchase are eligible for rebate under the
NEW or REPLACEMENT rebate schedule. Additional time may be granted subject to the Utility's pre-approval. Qualifying energy-efficient motors being used
for replacement of on-site inventory are eligible for rebate under the INVENTORY rebate schedule. In no case will the rebate paid by the Utility exceed the
purchase price of the equipment. The maximum rebate amount may be limited.
5. INVOICE AND PAYMENT
Following inspection and verification (see #3) and completed installation, the customer must notify the utility and submit original invoices specifying the
quantity and price of all materials purchased, the date ordered, installation costs, and applicable taxes. After satisfactory review of the invoices and on-site
verification, a rebate check will be issued to the Customer. Vendors or contractors are not eligible to receive the rebate. Please allow 6 10 weeks from
the date of on-site inspection for delivery of payment. The utility reserves the right to apply rebates to past due accounts.
6. EQUIPMENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
NEMA Premium-Efficiency and Enhanced Premium-Efficiency Motors: Eligible motors must be NEMA design B or C, AC – 3-phase, 1 to 200 HP and
shall be approved under the electrical safety code. Eligible high-efficiency motors must meet or exceed the Utility's minimum efficiency requirements as
shown in the Premium-Efficiency Motor Tables according to its respective characteristics. New motor must replace a working motor to be eligible for
Premium-Efficiency motor rebates shown in Table 1. All 3-phase motors must have a NEMA nominal efficiency ratings clearly stamped on the nameplate.
Rewound motors of any kind are not eligible. Motors and equipment with motors that qualify for Utility rebates under other Utility programs are not eligible
for a rebate payment under this program.
Existing motor must be in working condition for new motor to be eligible for working motor rebate.
The NEMA-rated full-load efficiency of the new motor must meet or exceed the efficiency shown in Motor Tables tobe eligible for the Enhanced Premium-
Efficiency Motor Rebate.
ECM Evaporator Fan Motors in Refrigerated Cases: Eligible motors must be new electronically commutated motors (ECM). For retrofit projects, new
ECM motors must replace existing shaded pole or permanent split capacitor evaporator fan motors. Removed fan motors must not be reused within Utility’s
service territory. Rebates are not available for ECM motors in new walk-in coolers or freezers.
ECM Motors on Refrigeration Condenser Fans: Eligible motors must be new electronically commutated motors (ECM). For retrofit projects, new ECM
motors must replace existing shaded pole or permanent split capacitor evaporator motors. Removed fan motors must not be re-used within Utility’s service
territory.
ECM HVAC Fan Motors: Eligible motors must be new electronically commutated, DC brushless, or permanent magnet style on fan-powered
terminal box, fan
coil, or HVAC supply/return air fan. Removed fan motors must not be re-used within Utility’s service territory.
ECM Circulator Pumps: Eligible circulator pump motors must be new electronically commutated, DC brushless, or permanent
magnet style. Circulator
pump motor must be capable of variable speed operation and must include integrated controls that automatically modulate
flow based on demand. Circulator
pump motor must be > 1/50 horsepower and < 1 horsepower in size. Removed fan motors must not be re-used within Utility’s service territory.
7. TAX INFORMATION
The Utility will not be responsible for any tax liability imposed as a result of the rebate payment(s). Customers are advised to consult their tax advisors for
details.
8. DISCLAIMER
The Utility does not guarantee that the implementation of energy-efficient measures or use of the equipment purchased or installed pursuant to this
program will result in energy or cost savings. The Utility makes no warranties, expressed or implied, with respect to any equipment purchased or installed
including, but not limited to, any warrant of merchantability or fitness for purpose. In no event shall The Utility be liable for any incidental or consequential
damages. Customers are solely responsible for the proper disposal of existing equipment. Consult the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) office for
