CERTIFICATION LEVELS - GUIDE
Intermediate and Advanced Certification: this program was developed to give recognition for achievement in the field of
law enforcement. Intermediate or Advanced Certification may be awarded to paid, full-time, sworn law enforcement officers
who are employed by units of state and local government. The following qualifying conditions must be met:
1. Must currently hold law enforcement basic academy certification which has been issued by CLEET. No one serving
under a probationary certification status shall be eligible.
2. Must be a paid, full-time, sworn member of a state or local law enforcement agency within the State of Oklahoma.
3. Must subscribe to the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics.
(NOTE: RESERVE CERTIFICATION / TIME DOES NOT COUNT TOWARDS CERTIFICATION)

MINIMUM Requirements for Intermediate Certification are as follows:
2yrs full time service with Bachelor Degree and 21 points,
4yrs full time service with Assoc. Degree and 22 points,
or
4yrs full time service with no college degree and 97 points
MINIMUM Requirements for Advanced Certification are as follows:
4yrs full time service with Graduate Degree and 21 points,
6yrs full time service with Bachelor Degree and 25 points,
9yrs full time service with Assoc. Degree and 31 points,
or
9yrs full time service with no college degree and 97 points

CLEET BASIC ACADEMY POINTS: worth 15 points
CLEET HOURS POINTS: this is your total number of training hours from your CLEET Training Profile MINUS your basic
certification (NOTE: If you have reserve academy hours you must subtract those as well since reserve does not count
towards Certification Level) and divided by 20.
IN SERVICE HOURS POINTS: this is training (not on your CLEET profile) that you can show proof of. If claiming In-
Service Hours you will need to provide a copy of the certificate. The certificate must show the date and the number of
hours. (REMEMBER….THESE CAN NOT APPEAR AS TRAINING ON YOUR CLEET PROFILE ALREADY). These hours
are added together and divided by 20.
FTO POINTS: (2 pts): This refers to a 400+ hour course. If it is not listed on your CLEET profile, we will need a letter on
department letterhead, signed off on by the agency head or agency designee. The letter will need to state the dates of the
course (from mm/dd/yyyy to mm/dd/yyyy) and the total number of hours for the course.
FORMAL EDUCATION POINTS: official college transcript is required (copy of official transcript is acceptable) if claiming
college hours. College (if Semester College Hours) are 1 for 1….if Quarter College Hours 1=2/3.
