You must have a) completed your foundational courses within five (5) years of your Speech@Emerson start date AND
b) received a grade of B or higher (For example, for a September 2019 start, grades for your foundational coursework would
need to be completed between September 2014 and September 2019)

Note that the Speech@Emerson course Speech Sounds: Phonetics and Acoustics includes content from both traditional
phonetics classes and traditional speech science/acoustic classes.

Speech and Hearing Anatomy
and Physiology
(Structures and Functions for
Speech, Hearing, and Swallowing)
Must cover the structure and function of biological systems that underlie speech,
language, hearing, and swallowing.
Language Acquisition
(Language Development)
Must cover theoretical and practical aspects of the language learning process.
