8. Choice of new major should this request be denied.

For Students Requesting a Comprehensive Academic Tracking (CATS) Appeal:
According to the Comprehensive Academic Tracking (CATS) an University policy as stated in the LSU General Catalog,:
“ If a student is flagged for not making minimal progress for two consecutive semesters, in addition to the hold being placed
on the student’s schedule, the student is required to meet with an academic advisor and select a new major that is more
aligned with the student’s interest and abilities.” CHSE students can also appeal to request to remain in their declared degree
program after having two consecutive semesters “off track.”
Completed appeals should be submitted in one the following ways by 4:00pm on Tuesday to ensure review by the appeals
committee that week:.
1. To the CHSE Office of Student Services, 236 Peabody Hall, between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday
2. Via email to chseinfo@lsu.edu or to a CHSE counselor/advisor
3. Via fax to 225/578-3613.
Students will receive notification of the appeal decision within 7 to 10 working days of the submission unless a decision
requires the gathering of additional information.
A student requesting an appeal of the Comprehensive Academic Tracking (CATS) policy must attach a detailed letter explain-
ing the extenuating circumstance(s) that warrant(s) an appel of this policy.
