BOARD INFORMATION PACKET
AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD - This board is comprised of seven Council appointed
citizens for staggered three year terms. The Airport Board will act in an advisory and
review capacity to the City Council on matters that concern the Page Airport and
aviation within the Page area. The Airport Board will act in an advisory and review
capacity to the City Council regarding the operation and construction of the Page
Municipal Airport.
COMMUNITY CENTER ADVISORY BOARD - This board is comprised of five Council
appointed citizens for staggered three year terms. The Community Center Advisory
Board will act in an advisory and review capacity to the City Council regarding the
operation, programming and fundraising activities of the Page Community Center.
LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD - This board is comprised of seven Council appointed
citizens for staggered three year terms. The Library Board will act in an advisory and
review capacity to the City Council regarding the operation and programming of the
Page Public Library.
PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD - This board is comprised of seven
Council appointed citizens for staggered three year terms. The board will act in an
advisory and review capacity to the City Council regarding the operation, maintenance,
improvement and activities of the parks and recreation facilities.
PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION - This commission is comprised of seven
Council appointed citizens for staggered three year terms. This commission will act in
an advisory and review capacity to the City Council. The commission will assist in the
preparation of a General Plan; assist in the preparation of development controls; review
development proposals, proposed changes to ordinances and changes in development
policies; hold public hearings and meetings; assist in preparation of a capital
improvements program; make recommendations on proposed boundary changes; and
make recommendations on a uniform schedule of fees for service.
PUBLIC SAFETY RETIREMENT - POLICE/FIRE - This board is comprised of five
members pursuant to Arizona Statute §38-847. The board shall have the
responsibilities and duties as set forth in A.R.S. § 38-847, as it may be amended from
time to time.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY BOARD - The advisory board is comprised
of seven Council appointed citizens for staggered three year terms. The board will act
in an advisory and review capacity to the City Council regarding the economic
development, tourism, beautification, enhancement and development of public land
within our community; including master planning, budgeting, event and activity planning,
marketing strategies and coordination.

YOUTH ADVISORY COMMISSION - This board is comprised of seven Council
appointed members, actively enrolled students in public or private high school in Page
(including charter and home schools) between ninth and twelfth grade. The board will
assist and advise the Parks and Recreation Board on issues concerning youth in Page;
present recommended improvements to the City Council of public projects and
programs relating to youth; and assist in planning, and youth/recreation activities and
events.
SUBSTANCE ABUSE TASK FORCE - This Task Force is comprised of five Council
appointed citizens for staggered four year terms. The board is responsible for fostering
the health and well being of the citizens of Page, Arizona by coordinating efforts to
establish and strengthen programs to reduce and prevent substance abuse in the
community.
PAGE UTILITY ENTERPRISES BOARD - The Page Utility Enterprises Board is
comprised of six Council appointed citizens, who shall be residents of the City of Page,
for staggered five year terms by Resolution of the Council. The sixth member is the
Mayor or designee who serves as an ex officio member. The board was established as
an independent body, separate and distinct from the Common Council of the City of
Page, and of the administrative offices of City government, to operate the Page Utility
Enterprises, as more specifically set out in Ordinance No. 588-12. The board has
general powers to operate the electric, water and sewer systems, appoint a General
Manager and recommend rates, fees, and charges for services rendered by the
systems for adoption by the City Council. The board shall meet at least monthly.
BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT - This board is comprised of five Council appointed citizens
for staggered three year terms, pursuant to Arizona Statute section 9-462-06.
ADJUSTMENT - Meets as necessary when appeals have been filed. Duties are to hear
and decide appeals for variances from terms of the zoning ordinances. Also to hear
and decide appeals in alleged error in the order, requirement, or decision made by the
Zoning Administrator.
APPEALS - This board has the authority to hear cases in which a citizen wishes to
overturn the decision of the building official on matters pertaining to the adopted
Uniform Building Codes. This board does not have the power to hear variances on
individual cases. They are primarily concerned with code interpretation and alternate
use of building materials whenever a request is denied by the building official. The
board should be trained in the Uniform Code and have background in building
construction or design. Occasionally the board may be used as a review board to
recommend code changes.
FIRE - This board hears matters on petition by a citizen when an interpretation or ruling
is needed on the Uniform Fire Code. When such a request is filed, the board sets a
meeting date and information on the reason for the interpretation under consideration is
presented in report form by the Fire Department. The petitioner presents information in
the hearing and the board makes a ruling based on its findings after considering the
information and the wording of the Code.
