Dear Parents and Students,
The Chesapeake Center for Student Success, in conjunction with the Office of Pupil Discipline,
has partnered with the Chesapeake Sherriff’s Department to provide a mentoring program. This
provides students with the opportunity to interact with department personnel as they mentor
students who may be facing academic or behavioral challenges. The goal of the program is to
help students achieve success in every area of life as well as to encourage positive relationships
with members of law enforcement.
Mentoring programs allow the mentor to “give back” to their community; share valuable
knowledge and life experiences; and strengthen interpersonal relationship skills. Such programs
offer the mentee the opportunity to increase their self-confidence; practical skills in speaking and
listening; the development and building of interpersonal relationship skills; techniques on
communication, change management and leadership skills; and provide an important networking
contact for the mentee.
We encourage every student to participate in the program. Please complete the form and
return it with your student to the school as soon as possible. If you have any questions or
concerns, please feel free to contact the school directly at 757-578-7046. We are excited about
this opportunity and look forward to building positive and lasting relationships between our
students and community partners.
