Volunteer Application

The City of Sumter Aquatics Center encourages all water and swimming enthusiasts interested in
becoming involved in this volunteer-driven opportunity to apply for events. Below, you will find brief
descriptions of each area or event’s activities. If you would like additional information about any of
the information, please speak to the Aquatics Development Professional at 803-774-3969.
AC Meet and Events Volunteer: this position is a volunteer position working a check-in
desk, concessions counter, stuffing welcome bags, folding t-shirts, hanging banners, event
set-up, to guiding children for line up.
AC Swim Camps or AC Triathlon Volunteer: this position is a volunteer position working on
Deck as a Monitor or an Official, Assist with youth swim days – assist as a coach, timer, stroke
and turn referee in meets or camps, play day activities, games, and more!
*Some areas may require minimal training by one of the AC Swim Professionals.
DUE TO THE SENSITIVITY OF WORKING WITH SMALL CHILDREN THE AQUATICS CENTER
REQUIRES ALL VOLUNTEERS OVER THE AGE OF18 TO PROVIDE A SOUTH CAROLINA
SLED CHECK. This is a criminal background check for all Adult Volunteers. https://catch.sled.sc.gov/
this sled check can be done online at this website for a quick turn-around or there is a mail-in version
provided if preferred.
PLEASE NOTE:
The fee is twenty-five dollars ($25) unless you are a charitable organization approved for a fee of eight dollars ($8).
A charitable organization must include its name and User ID number or the request may not be processed.
Payment must be business check, certified/cashier’s check or money order payable to SLED. PERSONAL
CHECKS and CASH WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. This report contains records of arrests and convictions made by
state/local agencies in South Carolina only. Alteration of a completed criminal record check may subject a person to
criminal prosecution. A completed criminal records check should not be accepted unless it bears an original SLED
stamp.
