Application for Incoming Freshmen
About the Program
Christian scholarship is a particular calling to Kingdom Service shared by everyone with a
college education. The Kuyper Honors Program takes students exhibiting exceptional gifts in
this area and helps them to cultivate this calling and explore what it means in their lives. Since
this calling is for students, not just graduates, our program calls students to engage in works of
public scholarship that have a real-world impact as part of their studies. We also seek to
cultivate habits of life-long learning rooted in a love of the Author of Truth, equipping our
students to stand firm in their calling, even in an age of uncertainty.
Students who enroll in the Kuyper Honors Program will:
Understand integral Christian scholarship
Develop a Kuyperian sense of scholarly work as calling to a particular kind of Kingdom
service
Articulate a sense of broader calling in this world rooted in a Biblical historical
imagination
Demonstrate an ability to question and challenge the deforming spirits of the age from an
individual and collective perspective
Develop proficiency in interdisciplinary, theoretical, and collaborative scholarly work
Engage in active public scholarship and community service
Demonstrate the traits of a life-long Christian learner
Demonstrate proficiency in the development, communication, and consideration of ideas
necessary for Christian leadership
Additional information about the program is available on the Dordt University web site,
