Course Catalog Description
A capstone experience covering comprehensive, assessment based patient care
management and includes specific care when dealing with pediatric, adult, geriatric
and special-needs patients. This is a summarative experience covering
comprehensive, assessment-based patient care management for the paramedic level.

Current EMT Certification or AEMT Certification; and EMSP 1355, EMSP 2305, EMSP
2306, EMSP 2330, EMSP 2434 and EMSP 2444

Management and Resuscitation of the Critical Patient
1. Comprehensive assessment-based management of a wide range of patients, including adult, pediatric, and geriatric
patients.
2. Assessment and management of trauma and medical patients.
3. Communication skills and techniques for verbal and written reports.
Course Learning Outcomes:
Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will:
Be able to integrate pathophysiological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and
implement a treatment plan.
Methods of Assessment:
Computer Based Exams, critical skills development, scenario assessments, assessment graphs, patient care
assessments, oral interviews, critical thinking skills, various hands on skills evaluations and decision making
exercises.
