A retroactive drop/resignation is a special request and is allowed only when circumstances over which a student has no control arise after
the final date for dropping courses or resigning from the University AND when these extenuating circumstances prevent the student from

Academic Appeal
Students requesting to appeal a university or college policy must submit an official CHSE appeal. Students are encouraged to consult with a CHSE
counselor/advisor prior to the submission of an appeal. Read the information below carefully prior to the submission of your appeal.
Appeal Instructions and Review Process:
1. When submitting an appeal it is the students RESPONSIBILITY to :
A. A typed & detailed explanation of your request. Be specific with regard to all unusual or extenuating circumstances related to your request.
Provide all related information, such as dates, attendance information, grades in class (es), etc.
Attach additional paper.
B. If applicable, submit written documentation (i.e., doctor’s excuse, hospital verification, etc.) to support your request.
Please consult with a counselor/advisor in the CHSE Office of Student Services concerning specific documentation needed for your appeal.
2. Completed appeals should be submitted in one the following ways by 4:00pm on Tuesday to ensure review by the appeals committee that week:.
1. To the CHSE Office of Student Services, 236 Peabody Hall, between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday.
2. Via email to chseinfo@lsu.edu or to a CHSE counselor/advisor
3. Via fax to 225/578-3613.
3. Appeals are reviewed once a week by the Appeal Committee. Students will receive email notification of the appeal decision within 7 to 10 working
days of the appeal review unless a decision requires the gathering of additional information.
