IMPORTANT FEDERAL DIRECT LOAN INFORMATION
1- All first-time Federal Direct Loans borrowers MUST complete a Direct Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) and
federally required Entrance Loan Counseling, available at https://studentloans.gov.
2- Federal Direct Loans received for the summer will reduce your 2020-21 loan eligibility.
3- Summer School Federal Direct Loans will be disbursed on the first day of classes for the first session in which you
are enrolled.
4- If you are originally enrolled at least half-time and receive aid and then drop below half-time, your aid may be
returned.
Your financial aid application process & summer award acceptance must be completed prior to the last day of Summer
School. Therefore, it is advisable to apply no later than July 20, 2020.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Once your eligibility has been determined, you will receive an e-mail at your campus e-
mail address informing you that your financial aid award is available online in WINGS. Follow the instructions for
accepting your award. Failure to do so could result in your financial aid award being cancelled. Check your “to
do” list in WINGS for other documents needed.
If you are enrolled less than half-time and want loans for summer, you will need to complete an alternative student loan
application with a lender that allows loans for less than half-time students.
Visit http://www.uwlax.edu/finaid/Summer-session/
for links to lenders that offer these loans.
