ACCESS AWARDS
SWC FACULTY/STAFF/ADMINISTRATOR AWARD NOMINATION
Purpose of the SWC Diane Branman Access Award
The SWC Diane Branman Access Award recognizes a SWC faculty, staff, or administrator,
outside of Disability Support Services (DSS), who is distinguished by their especially significant
contribution to the education of persons with disabilities through Universal Design principles.
This award is named for Diane Branman, who was the first DSS counselor at SWC and recently
retired after more than thirty years of service devoted to students with disabilities.
Award Criteria
Open to all current SWC faculty, staff or administrators outside of the DSS Office
Award Nomination
Any Southwestern College District stakeholder may submit a nomination. The nominator must
submit a nomination form and a description of how the nominee has contributed to the
education of persons with disabilities and an accessible learning environment for all students.
Selection Committee
Members of the campus ADA Committee, as follows:
• Two administrators
• Two faculty members
• Two classified staff members
• ASO President or designee
Selection Process and Award
Nominations are now available at www.swccd.edu/ACCESS.
Deadline to submit: Monday, October 5, 2020 by 3:00 p.m.
The recipient of the award shall be selected by the committee each October, during Disability
Awareness Month.
The recipient of the award will receive:
• Crystal plaque
• Certificate of Recognition
• Recognition at Governing Board meeting
