3-D REQUIREMENT POLICIES
• 3D courses must be drawn from three different disciplines.
• Each 3D course may fulfill a KCA, language requirement, or Learning Community, but the Boston course or
Leadership Course will not be accepted.
• One 3D course may count in each major/minor/program of study.
• One 3D course may have been taken during the first or second year. However, students in 3+1, 3+2, or
accelerated programs may use two classes taken during the first or second year.
• One course may be transfer credit.
• Students may take courses in their 3D cluster as pass/fail classes.
• Courses may be taken through the Colleges of the Fenway or through study abroad.
• Honors students must take two of their three chosen 3D courses at the 200 level. Also, because Honors
students take their Boston course as a Learning Community, they can use one of those courses as their class
from their first or second year.
