The South Holland Open Arts Exhibition aims to showcase the best
work created by professional and amateur artists who live and work
in the district of South Holland and the surrounding region
Who can enter
Professional and amateur artists aged 14 or
over who live or work in the following areas:
Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire,
North East Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire,
Nottinghamshire, Rutland, Northamptonshire,
Norfolk, Leicestershire, or Fenland.
What to enter
You can enter up to three pieces of your
work in total in any of the following media:
three dimensional work, photography,
digital, oil, pencil, pastel, watercolour,
acrylic and gouache.
Due to their particular fragility, pottery and
ceramics are not eligible for the exhibition.
There is no entry fee.
Works submitted to South Holland
Open Arts in previous years should
not be re-submitted.
The artwork must be the original work
produced by the artist named on the
Open Arts entry form.
Only original works of art will be accepted into
the exhibition (no copies or reproductions).
Size of Work
Maximum size of work: 153cm x 153cm,
including frame (no clip frames). Wall hung
work should not project more than 10cm from
the frame/canvas. If selected for the
exhibition please string your work
securely across the back between
two hooks which are not more than
5cms down from the top of the work.
3D work maximum weight: 20 kilos,
maximum base or plinth size:
1 metre on any side

What to send
Please send a separate photograph or digital
print of each piece of work you are entering.
Make sure the quality is good enough to give
the selectors an accurate idea of your work.
Please print the title of work and your name
on the back of each one.
You may also include a short statement
of inspiration for each piece.
Size of photograph / digital print:
Minimum 21 x 15cms (A5)
Maximum 30 x 21cms (A4)
Please indicate actual size of each work
on your entry form.
Photographs will not be returned unless
you enclose a stamped addressed envelope.
Do not send original artwork
unless requested.
Selecting work
Selection is made by an independent panel
whose choice will demonstrate diversity of
ideas, styles and method. The selectors’
decision will be final.
What happens next?
If you are successful you will be notified by
Friday 13th March 2020. You will need to drop
off your work at the South Holland Centre in
Spalding on Saturday 11th April
between 10am and 1pm.
You will be sent further details regarding
rules for packaging and preparations for
hanging of work.
Unless under exceptional circumstances,
work will not be removed from the exhibition
until the collection date of:
Thursday 23rd April, 4.30pm - 7pm.
Please ensure you are able to
deliver/collect on these days
and times before submitting an
application. South Holland District
Council is unable to store work
before or after these dates.
Insurance
Unframed paintings cannot be insured by
South Holland District Council due to their
particular vulnerability.
All other works are insured whilst within
the venue. Artwork is submitted to the
Open Arts Exhibition at the owner’s risk.

*South Holland District Council will take a 20% commission on any work sold at the exhibition.
Artists are advised to take this into consideration when setting prices.
Please indicate the value of works marked ‘not for sale’- this is for insurance purposes.
