2020 SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT
Accepting Applications:
Monday August 26, 2019 through Friday, October 11, 2019
The Scholarship:
Central Connecticut State University (CCSU)’s Institute for Municipal & Regional Policy (IMRP) is home to
the Connecticut Children with Incarcerated Parents Initiative (CTCIP) which aims to assist full-time
students who have been impacted by parental or familial incarceration. The number of awards given will
be determined by the CTCIP based on proposals received and available funds.
The scholarship offers a $1,500.00 award for each semester (up to 6 semesters in total) as long as full-
time status and a GPA of 2.6 or higher is maintained. The award will be disbursed January 2020.
Applicant Criteria to Qualify:
To qualify for the 2020 Children with Incarcerated Parents Scholarship, applicants must:
Be experiencing, or have experienced, the incarceration of a parent or close family member
Be registered as a full-time, matriculated undergraduate or graduate Central Connecticut
State University student (taking at least 12 credits) during the fall semester of 2020
Required Materials:
In order to be considered, the items below must be submitted:
Completed CTCIP Scholarship Application (attached)
Copy of your most recent transcript
Proof of full-time student status
2 letters of recommendation from individuals affiliated with CCSU
o First-year students may obtain 1 letter of recommendation from an individual affiliated
with CCSU and the second from an individual affiliated with the student’s high
school/previous program
Application Process:
Students interested in applying must provide the materials above no later than 12pm (noon) on Friday,
October 11, 2019. Applications will be reviewed in November and December 2019 by the CIP
Scholarship Review Committee. Award will be paid in January 2020.

Assistance with Scholarship Application:
Tutors at the CCSU Writing Center can assist students with the CIP Scholarship Application. Students can
schedule appointments by phone at (860) 832-2765 or by stopping in person at Willard DiLoreto (W314).
Disclaimers to Awardees:
It is recognized that IMRP’s funding for scholarship is dependent upon continued funding from the
Connecticut General Assembly for CTCIP. If there is a reduction in funding or other budgetary rescissions
are imposed or required, IMRP shall, with written notice to awardee(s), terminate or amend any
agreement.
Recipients who drop below a 2.60 GPA or who drop from full-time to part-time, you may be given a one-
time probationary period for one semester to meet the renewal requirements. Probation may not be
granted for students whose grade point averages are below 2.0 or who have earned less than 24 credits
in an academic year. If this should occur, the student may contact us directly to discuss the possibility of,
and requirements for, reapplication.
