SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

CURRENT ACC STUDENTS
Each ACC student applying for a scholarship offered by the ACC Foundation must:
Be at least a half-time student (6 credits)
Apply for or be in a degree program
Provide a transcript of ACC course work (an unofficial copy will be accepted)
Provide a letter of recommendation from an ACC faculty member (only one letter is required
even if applying for more than one scholarship)
Answer all questions on the scholarship application
Write a one-paragraph essay answering: How will Asnuntuck Community College assist in
achieving your goals for future success?
Have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0
Have completed at least one semester at ACC and be continuing at ACC for the following
semester. (All scholarships are for students returning to ACC next semester. Award funding
will be credited to the student’s account at the Business Office.)

Awarded to a student in the Criminal Justice program.
Early Childhood Education
Scholarship
Student must be majoring in the Early Childhood Education
program.
Human Services Scholarship
Student must be majoring in the Human Services Program.
Edward & Cathy Juozokas
Scholarship
Recognizes outstanding achievement in the sciences and
commitment to continuing study in the sciences, including health
professions.
The Donald A. Cotnoir
Scholarship
Must be pursuing a Business Administration degree and be a student who
is in the process of completing their second semester at ACC (minimum
24 credits). Applicant must write a 500 word essay on why volunteerism
is important to your life, and how/what you plan on doing in the next 5-10
years to help others (include past or current activities, if relevant for the
future).

Nadia Kober Writing Scholarship
Include a one-page cover letter addressing the topic, "What has been your
approach to writing assignments in your courses at Asnuntuck?" and 10-
20 pages of written work produced for credit courses at Asnuntuck during
the applicant's time as a student here. The writing can be of any type
(nonfiction, fiction, poetry, etc.).

Must be enrolled in a Degree Seeking Professional Program

Must be engaged in volunteer activities and have demonstrated exceptional
community service throughout the past 12 month

Candidate must demonstrate financial need and live in the service
area.
Miller Family Scholarship
Must demonstrate commitment and service to the greater community.

Student in good standing and demonstrates needs

An exceptional student studying to be a Registered Medical Assistant

Student with exceptional grade in the Microbiology Course
Judith K. Shaffer Scholarship
The scholarship goes to a single mother in need of financial
assistance who is in good academic standing.
CONTINUING EDUCATION STUDENTS
Each ACC Continuing Education student applying for a scholarship offered by the ACC
Foundation must:
Be enrolled in a Continuing Education Certificate Program (All scholarships are for
students continuing in their program. Award funding will be credited to the student’s
account at the Business Office.)
Provide a transcript of ACC course work (an unofficial copy will be accepted)
Provide a letter of recommendation from an ACC faculty member
Answer all questions on the scholarship application
Write a one-paragraph essay answering “How will Asnuntuck Community College
assist in achieving your goals for future success? “
Have satisfactory grades in courses completed within the program
SNAP and WIOA students are not eligible for these scholarships.

Each High School student applying for a scholarship listed below, offered by the ACC
Foundation must:

Provide an official transcript, which may be faxed to 860-253-3007 (an unofficial transcript will
not be accepted)
Provide a letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor or teacher (only one letter is
required even if applying for more than one scholarship)
Answer, all questions on the scholarship application
Write a one-paragraph essay answering: How will Asnuntuck Community College assist in
achieving your goals for future success?
