Student Account, Billing Holds and Late Fees
By registering for classes, the student [undersigned parent/legal guardian/sponsor] agrees to pay all account charges
in full by the due dates established by the University. Charges may include tuition and fees, housing and meal plan
charges, fines and collection fees.
Alaska Pacific University does not send out student billing statements; all student account information is
available via the student portal and communicated through the official APU student email account. It is the student’s
responsibility to regularly check their account to be aware of any unpaid balance.
Accounts not paid by the due dates may be assessed late fees and become subject to an account Hold, which may
limit access to grades, prevent future registration and restrict transcript or diploma receipt until the debt is satisfied.
Full details regarding tuition, fees and payment information is found in the APU Catalog, http://catalog.alaskapacific.edu.
FERPA Policy
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA – 20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that
protects the privacy of student educational records. This law applies to students who are at least eighteen years old or
who attend a post-secondary institution, even if they have not reached the age of eighteen. FERPA is intended to
ensure students the right to inspect, review, and control access to their educational records maintained by the
University.
For purposes of compliance with FERPA, the University considers all students independent. Before information
(including billing) can be released to parents or guardians, a FERPA release form signed by the student must be on
file in the Registrar’s Office. Once filed, this request becomes a permanent part of the student’s record until the student
instructs the University, in writing, that the release is no longer valid. Release forms are available upon request from
the Office of the Registrar.
Full details of the FERPA Policy is found at www.alaskapacific.edu by searching FERPA.

charges relating to tuition, fees, room, board, supplies, and other necessities billed by Alaska Pacific University.
Furthermore, I understand the following: 1) that my financial obligation to APU is tied directly to the registration activities

monitor and fulfill this obligation in a timely and accurate manner or risk obstructing the academic progress of the student
including possible referral to a third-party for collection purposes; and 3) that the student’s account information is protected
under FERPA and only available to me if an executed FERPA release form is on file allowing my access.
