TheAlumniAssociationRisingAlumniAwardisgiventoalumnioftheUniversityofWyomingwhohave
graduatedinthelasttenyearsanddistinguishedthemselvesthroughahighlevelof professional
accomplishmentintheircareer.Thecandidatemustbe40yearsof ageoryounger.
Who’seligibletobenominated?
o Therecipientmustexemplifyoutstandingprofessionalandpersonaldevelopmenteither
throughtraditionalchannelsorinnovativeapproaches.
NomineemustbelivingandabletoparticipateinpersonattheAwardsRecognitionCeremony(no
posthumousnominations).
NOTE:Awardwinnerswillbeaskedtosubmitanumberofphotos foravideopresentationduringthe
AwardsRecognitionCeremony/ReceptionduringMembershipAppreciationWeekendinSeptember.The
nomineemustbewillingandabletosubmitthesephotoswithintwoweeksafternotificationofhavingbeen
chosenfortheawardandmustbeabletoattendtheAwardsRecognitionCeremony.

o Alumnicannot currentlybeemployeesof theUniversity,votingmembersoftheBoard of
Trustees,orcurrentmembersoftheAlumniBoard.

Thegoalistorecognizeprofessionalandvolunteerachievementbyarisingalumni.
ThenominationsreceivingthestrongestconsiderationbytheSelectionCommitteewillincludethe
following:
Specificexamplesofachievementsintheirprofessionallifetoimprovethecommunity,thestate,
thenation,and/ortheworld.
Allareas,typesandlevelsofserviceshould beconsidered, andthe awardshouldbegivenbased
onsuchservice.
Specificexamplesofvolunteerserviceinsupportof UWAAprioritiesandUW.(Thisisnotrequired,
butifstrongin careerdevelopment,theirserviceandinvolvement withtheUWAAcould separate
themfromothercandidates).
NominationProcess:
Anyonemaysubmitnominationsforconsideration.Inaddition,theDistinguishedAlumniSelection
CommitteemayrefernomineestotheSelectionCommittee.
