Description Cont'd
This application will implement the "Green Phase" of a long-awaited 10ft wide
asphalt shared-use path along Route 2 that will ultimately connect Richmond’s
village and the Riverview Commons Mobile Home Park with the I-89 Park &
Ride at exit 11. Scoping for this pedestrian/bicycle project occurred in 2014 as
a joint Town of Richmond and CCRPC effort and is further supported by
Richmond 2018 Town Plan. The Town of Richmond's 2018 Town Plan
includes a “Complete Streets” policy encouraging multi-modal transportation
options such as walking and biking in addition to vehicle traffic. This first,
Green Phase, of the project will connect Richmond’s village center with
parcels held by the elementary and middle school and the Richmond Land
Trust. This corridor is heavily traveled, around 8100 daily trips, and is a main
passage for surrounding towns outside of Richmond to access the interstate
and bus system. This corridor is also identified as High Priority/High Feasibility
in the CCRPC Regional Active Transportation Plan.
