Which require demonstrated interest in Armenian Studies/Armenian Culture/Armenian Language.
Each year the Armenian Studies Program awards more than $70,000 in scholarships and grants from
endowments given to the University to aid students interested in studying about Armenia and the Armenians.
Awards range from $500 to $1500 per year. These scholarships are for anyone taking Armenian Studies
Program courses and not only for students of Armenian heritage. Students pursuing a Minor in Armenian
Studies are usually guaranteed a scholarship. Additionally, each year there are several “Research Grants”
awarded by the Armenian Studies Program to students with a high GPA interested in carrying out research in
Armenian history, art, or literature under the direction of a faculty member.
Criteria in importance of evaluation:
1) List courses already taken in Armenian Studies at Fresno State or other universities.
2) Do you intend to complete a Minor in Armenian Studies?
3) List courses in Armenian Studies you plan to take in the coming fall and spring semesters.
4) List campus activities related to the Armenian Studies Program such as, participation in the Armenian
Students Organization, the newspaper, Hye Sharzhoom, special projects, etc. (If a freshman,
describe your Armenian related activities in high school.)
5). List scholarships (with their amounts) you have received in the past through the Armenian Studies
Program.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I understand that if I receive a scholarship of $1,000 or less, that I must enroll in a
minimum of three (3) units of Armenian Studies Program courses during the academic year of the
award, and if I receive a scholarship that is more than $1,000 I must enroll in six (6) units during the
academic year of the award. Scholarship checks will be distributed after the fourth week rosters have
been verified for enrollment in Armenian Studies courses. I also understand that I am required to attend
the annual Armenian Studies Program awards banquet during which I will be honored as a scholarship
recipient.
