Overview
John Dziak, a Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) faculty member for nearly 40 years, is president of
CCAC’s American Federation of Teachers, Local 2067 (AFT). He is actively involved in initiatives designed to promote
coll
egiality and consensus essential to improvement of the college. Professor Dziak is also among those at CCAC
leading efforts to improve student outcomes in progression, retention and graduation, both through his teaching and
his philanthropy.
The John Dziak Faculty Development and Engagement Fund was established to honor this strong record of generosity and
excellence in teaching. It is designed to promote faculty innovation with the goal of increasing student engagement.
The fund annually provides four awards of up to $500 each for four full-time faculty members, called Dziak Fellows,
to identify and test class strategies that can be used with their colleagues to improve learning outcomes and student
engagement. Projects are to be completed within one semester.
